Here I'm using a 28" Leedy bass drum with calf heads on front and back complete with three lights on the inside (working) to control the humidity. The snare is a a 5.5"x14" DW Johnny Craviatto and the floor toms are a 14" Premier and a 16" Camco. The cymbals are all old Zildjian's from the 50's and 60's.
Most of the time I use these to play jazz, but for some reason I felt the urge to pull them out for this show. I'm glad I did as it pulled me out of a playing funk.
The snare is a 5"x14" Slingerland tube lug chrome over brass 1920's era. The tangerine sparkle Gretsch's are the traditional jazz set of 18" bass drum, 14" floor tom and 12" tom tom. Cymbals are some old Zildjians and a 22" Bosphorus Traditional ride.
This is the set-up I use with singer/songwriter Paul Jacobsen. The decision was made along the way that we didn't want to have a traditional "garage band" and instead we were shooting for more of a chamber approach, one where we were thinking more of acoustically. Anyway, I brought the wrong lens to document as I couldn't get the whole set up in the shot.
For those who care the instruments used are (from left to right) a log drum, an old WFL parade drum with calfskin heads and gut snares, a small pandeiro with a calf head, 20" Premier bass drum with a large plastic headed pandeiro on top and a 28" Ludwig bass drum. Not pictured are about twenty different mallets, sticks and brushes as well as a 12" Grover tambourine with a calf head on top.
