Merry Christmas 2007

Yeah, I know that this here blog of mine has become more a shrine to the kids and less of an outlet for my thoughts, rants and observations. But now as the year winds down I figure it’s time to recap and share a few other insights into one of the greatest years of my life. So I’m just gonna dust off my thinkin’ cap and commence to some writin’ and reminicin’...I hope you enjoy.

January was spent with me going back to school for my last semester, Ruby entering her second year of life and baby #2/Henry beginning his journey in cell-splitting fashion deep inside Becca’s body.

In February we celebrated Becca’s birthday, weaned Ruby and discovered that baby #2/Henry was alive.

March was the month that Ruby learned how to stand and the month that Becca barfed and craved lots and lots of sleep. I can’t recall what I did, but I’m guessing that I worked a lot, played a few gigs and stressed out about school.

Ruby took her first steps in April, Becca craved sleep and I did my best to care about school. We also went public with Baby#2/Henry which was a big relief to finally be able to share this news.

May brought us a whole lotta relief when I graduated and when we got our first look at Baby #2/Henry. Ruby took more steps and Becca surprised me with a trip to France.

In June I frantically got our garden planted, Ruby got even more sassy and it became obvious to the casual observer that Becca was pregnant.

July was hot, hot, hot with Becca’s little heat generator expanding every day. Ruby took her first steps aboard the Hurst’s floating mansion (christened the “Rebel”) at Lake Powell and work took me to San Francisco where Kenny & I laid down the punk rock.

The most recreational time of the year was in August as we met up with nearly all the Campbell’s at a rental cabin near Park City. Ruby bonded with distant cousins while I got to show off my superior parenting skills to my brothers.

September brought an end to Becca’s pregnant discomfort as Henry Patrick Campbell was born on the 15th. Ruby got blindsided watching her mom bond with another little creature while I scratched my head trying to figure out how we were gonna pay for everything.

In October I settled in to my job as an Art Director for a small agency in Salt Lake while Ruby, Henry and Becca worked it out at home. I also took a brief trip back to San Francisco to witness my brother Erik and his wife Anna getting sealed in the Oakland Temple (it’s a Mormon thing).

November
brought us more adjusting, Thanksgiving at Uncle Buck’s and temperatures diving south. Quality sleep is in short supply as Henry just LOVES to eat and eat and eat.

December has given us a newfound struggle for our own Christmas traditions as we define our family and just what exactly we are all about. Ruby is excited to finally tear into the boxes under the tree while Henry continues his persuit of setting a new world record for the worlds largest baby.

We pray that this season finds you all happy and as drama-free as possible.

Love, hugs & kisses,
The Campbell’s
Pat - Rebecca - Ruby - Henry

Me too! I have saved it and I am gonna print it out at Tar-J and put it in a cute frame and hang it where I can look at it all the time of my life!
