Ellis Regina: Águas de Março
If I'm on an airplane and the pilot announces that we're going down I would immediately cue this tune up on my ipod. What if the last song we hear while in this mortal coil carries with us into the afterlife? I've thought about this often and I just hope and pray that I'm not stuck in some department store with Michael Bolton on the P.A.
This isn't the best version of this song that I have ever heard, but I love the spontaneity of it all. You can see the "real" version here ala cheesy early 1974 music video lip-syncing as if really in the studio.
Os Mutantes with Gilberto Gil: 1967
Antonio Carlos Jobim & Frank Sinatra
I saw part of this little gem on PBS a few years ago. For a while my favorite album was Francis Albert Sinatra & Antonio Carlos Jobim. This must have been filmed around the same time as the album was recorded. The problem with this little film is twofold: 1) Frank's questionable pronunciation of "Ipanema" and 2) Frank not shuttin' up while Jobim is singing.
